Rayer files motion to refer Awang Hashim to RPC, includes clarification from MACC
A motion to refer Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) to the Rights and Privileges Committee (RPC) was filed by RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong).
In the motion sighted by Harapan Daily, Rayer pointed out that Awang Hashim violated two standing orders when the later alleged that the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) raided the home of a former minister from the DAP and discovered RM94 million in cash.
The two are:
(a) Standing Order 36(6) that does not allow members to make ill intention statements against other members.
(b) Standing Order 36(12) states that misleading the Dewan Rakyat is equivalent to insulting the session and those who breached the standing order can be referred to the RPC.
“It is proven that Pendang’s speech is a wild allegation, baseless a lie and meant to insult this honorable chamber while at the same time violating standing orders. The MACC press statement dated Nov 4 2024 is also attached to deny the accusation,” Rayer said in the motion.
The statement from the anti graft body had clarified that they had probed former V Sivakumar (PH-Batu Gajah) who was Human Resources Minister but did not raid his residence.
