Why no blockage on Myanmar for using trade and banking facilities?

Malaysia has never blocked the usage of trade and banking facilities by the Myanmar junta government.

It would also not pressure ASEAN member nations to do so, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

“This is because of the non-interference policy which is one of the core characteristics in the formation of ASEAN is in practice and respected by the ASEAN member nations,” he explained.

Mohamad said this in a written reply in response to Wong Chen (PH-Subang) who questioned whether the government opted for that option in a bid to end the ongoing conflict in Myanmar

He added that Malaysia would collaborate closely with ASEAN member states to get via the full implementation of the Five-Point Consensus.

A multi prong, inclusive approach too would be undertaken to resolve the conflict that was sparked off in 2021.

These would including roping in China and India to resolve the conflict.
