Full stop to debates on addendum, accusations of treason
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul to put his foot down by putting a full stop to debates over the royal addendum and accusations of treason involving both the opposition bench and backbenchers.
He made the ruling while Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin (PN-Larut) held the floor.
Hamzah accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of committing treason for not revealing any information regarding the royal addendum that called for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to be held under house arrest.
“This is my ruling, owing to Standing Order 36(2), which deals with matters in court and Standing Order 36(7) over the use of the word ‘treason’, I disallow both.
“Please move on to the other things,” said Johari.
Hamzah’s accusations led the House to pandemonium as backbenchers TanKar Hing (PH-Gopeng), Howard Lee Chuan How (PH-Ipoh Timor), RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) and Dr Taufiq Johari (PH-Sungai Petani) objected to the accusation.
