Nik Elin: Politicians are leading masses astray from religion by using Islam

Lawyer Nik Elin Zurina Nik Abdul Rashid blamed the politicians for leading the masses astray from their religion by using Islam, in view of the case she had filed against the Kelantan state government.

“It is sad to watch their followers to pray (mengaminkan doa) without knowing the real issue in question. I guess religion is the most powerful tool to attain power and wealth for them,” she said in a Facebook posting.

“I can excuse their ignorance, but not in masses.

“I can forgive them for their ignorance and ketaksuban kepada these politicians. But its these politicians that are leading the blind masses astray from the path of Allah, using religion.”

She and her daughter Tengku Yasmin Natasha Tengku Abdul Rahman challenged the constitutionality of 20 Kelantan sharia enactments.

Yesterday the case was heard by a quorum of nine judges at the Federal Court and deferred its judgment to a later date.

Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat reminded all parties that the case was not about challenging Islam which is the faith of the federation or the sharia law.

It was rather challenging the ability of state legislative assemblies in making laws.

Pas in opposing the case also initiated “Save Syariah campaign” that resulted in 2000 people gathering outside the Palace of Justice.

They have also led prayer sessions in which they spread slander and lies.

“I just keep wondering how these people wrongly abuse religion to fool the masses.

“Do they not have an iota of conscience for the slander that they are spreading or doing upon us?” Nik Elin pondered.

She also quoted chapter 6 verse 116 of the Quran.

The verse from Surah Al Anam reads: “follow not the masses, for they will lead you astray from the path of Allah. They do nothing but conjecture.”
