Rashid Ansari’s move to support Selangor Menteri Besar hailed

A Bersatu federal lawmaker who is among the six who supports Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the federal level has hailed Selat Kelang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rashid Ansari’s move.

“The support from the Selat Klang assemblyman (Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari) towards the Selangor Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari (PH-Gombak) (shows) Bersatu’s amended constitution cannot stop any MPs or assemblymen from declaring their support for the Prime Minister,” Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hamzah (PN-Tanjung Karang) said while debating the royal address in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Rashid declared his support for Amiruddin yesterday, days after Bersatu amended its constitution to prevent more elected reps from declaring support for their political foes.

While the amendment has been passed, it has yet to be given the due green light by the Registrar of Societies.
