Calls for single stream education against vernacular schools is a political show
The call for a single stream education system is nothing more than a political theatre show since those who are raising are just raising it for political gains, said Dong Jiao Zong Higher Learning Center Bhd secretary Chow Siew Hon.
“Our country has embraced multi-stream, multiracial, multi-faith, and multicultural ethos for hundreds of years. I think they are just playing politics, provoking racial issues for political agenda.
“Such an act can’t be accepted,” Chow told Harapan Daily.
He was commenting on the recent calls by Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Salleh three days ago who alleged that vernacular schools were hubs for ethnic polarization.
Akmal’s proposal were shot down by several other parties.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek yesterday said that vernacular schools would remain as it is.
Her stand is in line with the Federal court ruling that the schools are within the constitutional rights provided by the law.
