Pre-accelerator university sets up first campus out of Silicon Valley here
Leading pre-accelerator university – Draper University has established its first campus out of Silicon Valley in Kuala Lumpur via a partnership with the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
It would support and spearhead the growth of 140 startups in Malaysia over the next two years by focusing on companies that are operating in the artificial intelligence, blockchain, web3 and Advanced 5G space.
“I am happy to note that Draper University will establish its first campus outside of Silicon Valley in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This will accelerate innovation and value creation in our startup ecosystem.
“This underscores Malaysia’s commitment to develop a global mindset in this sector and position us as the preferred digital hub of ASEAN,” said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo who met up with the top guns of that institution.
Draper University intends sto drive investments in the start-ups and provide mutually beneficial market access for emerging Malaysian companies.
“This strategic collaboration between MDEC and Draper University will drive investment in Malaysian startups like never before, by developing the digital ecosystem and providing mutually beneficial market access for emerging Malaysian companies to propel the country’s tech sector to even greater heights,” said Asra Nadeem the chief executive officer of Draper University.
Draper University boasts a track record of propelling more than 750 enterprises, and has secured an impressive USD1.05 billion in funding from esteemed global backers.
It also successfully created unicorn companies like “1047 Games,” a pioneering video game developer, and “Highstreet,” a groundbreaking metaverse blending commerce and gaming seamlessly.
It is part of the Draper Venture Network, an alliance composed of various independent venture capital firms.
