Fake account KKB's Harapan candidate emerges less than a day since she is named

Some unscrupulous people have created a fake Facebook account of Harapan’s Kuala Kubu Baharu candidate, Pang Sock Tao.

DAP’s national publicity secretary Teo Nie Ching confirmed this via her page.

“Xiao Tao 小桃 ‘s candidature was announced last night. Today, someone has used her photos to create a fake account on Facebook.

“For the information of all Malaysians, Xiao Tao’s official page is this , which was created since February 2018. And she has 33k followers on her official page.

“We have requested Meta to close down the fake account,” she said.

Teo expects more fake accounts would pop up soon due to artificial intelligence (AI).

“With the help of AI, generating contents has become so easy.

She also had a message for the public and the opponents.

“Be an informed netizen. Check your facts from reliable sources. Don’t be influenced by these misinformation easily.

“I also want to urge those not aligned with us to compete in a healthy way. Engage, not enrage; debate, not hate.

Nomination for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is scheduled to take place on April 27 and polling is set on May 11.
