Malaysia lost RM277 billion?

Malaysia lost at least RM277 billion over the last past five years due to corruption, revealed Malaysian Anti Corruption Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

“This is based on the cumulative estimation of gross domestic product (GDP) from 2018 to 2023.

“This RM277bil could’ve been used to help the public in various aspects especially for the implementation of social projects such as repairing schools and hospitals,” said Azam.

He made this relevation in his speech during the launch of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.

“Therefore, to ensure that the fight against corruption will work, the implementation will use approaches and methods that can identify which sectors are exposed to corruption,” he said, Star reported.
