No change in the fate of Bersatu’s six MPs

The status of the six Bersatu MPs who backed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains the same since the opposition party have not notified the Dewan Rakyat.

Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said he had not received any notification on the status of the six from Bersatu.

“Nothing. No one. No calls, no one wrote a letter also. There are not even one email so nothing happened until and unless that reaches my table,” said Johari.

“Yes, they are still MPs, nothing happened,” he said to the media after receiving a visit from a delegation of visitors from the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region this morning.

The six are Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Datuk Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjung Karang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) dan Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan).

A fortnight ago Bersatu secretary general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said that his party would notify the status of the six MPs supporting PM after the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

Registrar of Societies has approved an amended to Bersatu constitution that enables the party to vacate the six seats.

The six however had already countered by stating that the rule cannot be implemented retrospectively.
