Sungai Bakap by-election on 6 July

Election Commission has decided to hold the Sungai Bakap by-election on 6 July.

Acting EC chairman Azmi Sharom said the nominations would be held on 22 June and early voting is set to be held on 2 July.

The nomination and vote counting centre is Dewan Serbaguna Jawi, Jalan Serindit, Taman Desa Jawi, Penang.

There are 39,279 voters and this by-election requires an allocation of RM2.1 million,” he told reports.

A two week period for campaigning would beginning after nomination until 5 July.

Application for domestic and foreign postal voters will be open today.

Nine polling centres involving 65 voting channels and one early voting centre will be used.

The by-election is called following the death of Sungai Bakap assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff of Pas on 24 May.
