Third party mulling over Sungai Bakap by-election

Parti Rakyat Malaysia is the third party mulling over the question of whether to join the Sungai Bakap by-election which is scheduled to be held on 6 July.

Prior to this, Muda and protem party – Urimai was reported to be keen in contesting the suburban seat in Penang.

“This week, the top leadership will hold a meeting to make a final decision, and if we decide to contest the Sungai Bakap by-election, a candidate will be selected,” said PRM president Ahmad Jufliz Faiza, reported FMT.

“We are contesting because we believe PRM remains relevant. Since 1955, our struggles have not changed. We continue to oppose all forms of cronyism, capitalism and oppression.”

PRM’s candidate Hafizah Zainuddin lost her deposit in the recently concluded Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

The Sungai Bakap state seat fell vacant following the death of its assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff of Pas in 24 May.

The first term assemblyman had defeated PKR’s Nurulhidayah Che Rose with 1,563 vote majority during the state polls last year.
