Funeral industry not affected, for now
The increase in diesel prices had a slight effect on the funeral industry, but there are no plans to raise prices at the moment, said Nirvana Group (southern region) general manager Raymond Ong.
“The group is currently adopting a wait-and-see approach and has no plans to increase service fees for now. Prices will not be adjusted unless absolutely necessary, for now, the group will bear these additional costs,” he said, adding that diesel prices had increased transportation costs for the deceased and coffins.
He said that if diesel prices increase further in the future, the group would consider making slight adjustments to avoid increasing the burden on consumers.
He also admitted that if transportation costs rise again, not only will the fees for cremation ceremonies be affected, but the prices for burial ceremonies will also increase.
“We have always encouraged people to plan ahead because purchasing a package in advance will protect them from future price increases,” he said, reported China Press.
