Maintenance allocation for Tamil schools have been increased

The Education Ministry has increased the maintenance allocation for both national type Tamil primary schools (SK) and government aided Tamil schools (SBK), said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.

“For the year 2023, the ministry has channelled maintenance allocation to 90 SK to the tune of RM9.29 million and 277 SBK amounting to RM19.08 million.

“For this year, the ministry channelled maintenance allocations to 164 SK amounting RM6.94 million. Another RM18.15 million is meant for the maintenance of 297 SBK,” she said in a written reply.

In addition to that, RM134.44 million have been approved by the ministry to upgrade and implement minor maintenance for SBK for toilet maintenance.

“Of the above amount, allocation disbursal plans to 363 SBK involves RM25.41 million is limited to RM70,000 per school based on the applications filed by the School Governor Board.”

She was responding to V Sivakumar (PH-Batu Gajah) who asked for the total maintenance allocation spent for Tamil schools in 2023 and other allocations and maintenance allocated funds for the year 2024.
