Slim chances for Azizi to defend Gua Musang
Chances are slim for incumbent Gua Musang MP Azizi Abu Naim to defend his parliamentary seat in the event Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul declares the seat as vacant.
Kelantan Umno information chief Datuk Zawawi Othman said that the party state liaison would allow the top leadership of BN and PH to decide on the basis that the decision must be acceptable to all including Gua Musang Umno division chief Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.
“(The question of ) Who is going to contest is not the main issue because we have many candidates, most importantly is the party.
“He needs to have a party to contest,” Zawawi said in reference to Azizi.
“The seat needs to be evaluated to determine whether it would be given to BN or PH based on the support in the area,” he said, Berita Harian reported
“For an example, if the seat is given to BN and Azizi joined a non-BN party, certainly he cannot be a candidate for the parliament seat.”
Zawawi however added that the state chapter would accede to a decision made by party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Razaleigh.
Yesterday Azizi said that he is keen in defending the Gua Musang seat if the seat is declared vacant by Johari.
