Chow hopeful for 65% voter turnout

Penang PH chairman Chow Kon Yeow is hopeful that the voter turnout in the ongoing Sungai Bakap polls would be above 65%.

He pointed out that there were two polling centres with the highest numbers of voters.

The two, SMK Tasek Mutiara and SJKC Boon Beng, are polling centres for over 13,000 voters.

“There are many who opined that the voter turnout would be low but we hope it will reach 65 percent and above,” said Chow who is also the chief minister.

“We are at this polling centre SMK Tasek Mutiara that has the most voters – over 8,000 of them. Another one SJKC Boon Beng (with over 5,000 voters) for Puteri Gunung voting district.

Both these voting district would determine the results,” he said after witnessing the ongoing polls.

The voter turnout as of 11am is 24 percent, announced Election Commission.
