Remand extended against suspect in Esha’s case
The 35-year-old female suspect who had been remanded, in connection with TikTok influencer Rajeswari Appahu aka Esha’s death, had her remand extended.
The remand extension against Shalini Periasamy who used the handle Alpha Quinn Shalini on TikTok was given at the Jinjang Remand Court.
The court approved a two day extension.
She was initially remanded for three days.
Police reports had been lodged against her and another suspect regarding the alleged cyberbully episode that was endured by the late Esha.
It is believed that the cyberbullying endured by Esha led her to end her life.
Esha passed away on July 5 and her funeral took place on July 7.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari who confirmed the remand extension also said that the second suspect is still being traced.
“We are still tracking down the second suspect, whom we believe has gone into hiding,” he said.
He said police are still waiting for a response from the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission for details of the other social media account owners involved.
Police have so far recorded statements from nine people, including Rajeswary’s family members, on the case.
