KK Mart, Xin Jian Chang fined RM60,000 each

The Petaling Jaya Sessions Court acquitted and discharged KK Mart founder cum CEO Chai Kee Kan, 57, and director Loh Siew Mui, 53.

Both claimed trial against charges of intentionally wounding the religious feelings of Muslims by selling socks that had the word ‘Allah’ under section 298 of the Penal Code in March.

Sessions court judge Anas Mahadzir discharged and acquitted them after the prosecution decided against proceeding with the charges against Chai and Loh who are husband and wife.

KK Mart as a company was fined RM60,000

Three officials from socks vendor company Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd – Soh Chin Huat, Soh Hui San and Goh Li Huay – who faced charges for abetment was fined RM60,000.

Following the incidents there were calls for boycotts and several KK Mart outlets in Perak and Sarawak.
