PM to meet Teoh Beng Hock’s family next week
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will meet with the family of the late Teoh Beng Hock next week.
“We will (meet) after the coronation because this week, there’s the Conference of Rulers; so next week,” he said at the World Trade Centre today, reported Malaymail.
On July 16, 2009, Beng Hock, a former aide to DAP politician Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead shortly after being interrogated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Beng Hock’s sister, Teoh Lee Lan, led a “Walk of Justice” to Parliament on July 15. The event was organised by the Teoh Beng Hock Association for Democratic Advancement (TBH-ADA).
They marched towards parliament intending to deliver a memorandum directly to the prime minister, but their path was blocked by police forming a human barrier roughly 100 meters from the gates.
Yesterday, Raub MP Chow Yu Hui submitted an urgent motion to Parliament, calling on the government to expedite the investigation into Beng Hock’s death and swiftly bring those responsible to justice.
