Alleged cyberbullies laying low after exposé
Following the exposé on TikTok IDs allegedly involved in cyberbullying and gangsterism on Saturday that culminated in the death of TikTok influencer A Rajeswary, otherwise known as Esha, the alleged individuals have decided to lay low.
Some of those named were on a TikTok live session that very evening, using new fake TikTok accounts. Their voices however were recognisable.
Among others they claimed to be innocent and did good work for the society.
A number of them also have deactivated their accounts.
Kulim had removed his videos CEO Harpic deactivated his TikTok account.
Reborn Sultan & Brothers went private. Reborncrazy6 removed all the troll videos from his account.
Harapan Daily also viewed a viral cyberbullying clip in which Sathiskumar, notoriously known as Dulal Brothers cyberbullying two school boys.
The modus operandi used was similar to the ones used against their intended female adult victims.
Dulal confronted the two boys on live TikTok while featuring the victim’s photos on his background.
Commentators on the particular live session also used the victims’ photo as their display photos.
They also used abusive language.
Sathiskumar who was charged in relations to Esha’s death is currently out on bail.
In a related development English daily, The Star followed up on the exposé and delved into the personality of the alleged cyberbullies yesterday.
Counselling psychologist Joyce Hue revealed some interesting characteristics of the alleged individuals.
“Their aggression, while hiding behind pseudonyms, is a release of pent-up anger probably caused by their own life experiences.
“People like these also suffer from low self-esteem and are insecure,” she said.
Criminologist Dr Haezreena Begum Abdul Hamid pointed out that anonymity in cyberspace and fake identities makes cyberspace a safe haven for criminals.
“They can also create multiple identities which makes it easy for them to say anything they want to (in bullying cases) and then run off being undetected,” said Dr Haezreena who is also Deputy Dean of Higher Degree at Universiti Malaya’s Law Faculty.
“They are hiding behind a screen with these names so that they can get away easily,” she reiterated.
