Cloth for nurses uniform are so hard that nurses donate them for burial
There are cloth meant to be used to make uniforms for nurses, are so hard that some nurses donate them to be used for burial ceremony, revealed Lim Guan Eng (PH-Bagan) while debating Budget 2025 allocations.
In light of this, Lim called upon the Health Ministry to revealed further details regarding the contract to supply the uniforms.
“Can the Health ministry provide further details on the supply contract, specifically the tender price to purchase white cloth that would be given to nurses and medical assistants, the name of supplier company, and the legal action that would be taken?
“What monitoring system allows the acceptance of low quality uniforms?” Lim questioned.
Lim raised the issue that was previously raised by Penang Senator Dr A Lingeshwaran, a former hospital director.
“He also raised cases over the quality of cloth for uniforms that was meant for Health Ministry officially, especially for nurses and medical assistants.
“I would like the ministry to pay attention to complaints from nurses that the cloth that they receive are so hard that even the tailors decline from accepting it since it causes the needles on their sewing machines to break.
“Some even complained that the cloth is turning to yellow and they are scolded by their matrons.
“Even worse, they are nurses who are donating the cloth to be used for the burial of the dead.
“It is even shocking that in many cases, they are forced to accept the cloth to qualify them to receive sewing assistance worth RM690 for three pairs of uniform.”
