Action against Pendang based on discussion involving Jelutong and Kota Bharu, Speaker rules
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul opted the action against Datuk Awang Hashim (PN-Pendang) would be taken based on discussion involving RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) and PN whip chief Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu).
“PN Whip and Jelutong will sit with me and find a solution,” he ruled.
Earlier on Rayer raised a point of order as he had filed a motion to refer Awang Hashim to the Rights and Privileges Committee over the latter’s allegations against the DAP, specifically a former DAP minister.
Awang had alleged that the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission had raided and found RM94 million at the home of a former DAP minister without naming the individual outright.
The allegation was made against V Sivakumar (PH-Batu Gajah) who is a former Human Resources Minister.
“The MACC chief commissioner have clarified that no raid or statement was made. So what is his source?” Rayer asked, calling for a ruling.
Hearing this, Johari gave an option to Takiyuddin since Awang was not in the Dewan.
“Whip, please inform him, either he apologise or we go for full action,” said Johari who preferred to resolve the issue using his discretion.
To this, Takiyuddin agreed.
Johari also questioned why Awang Hashim blamed him when he (Awang) was booted out from the Dewan for three days. Awang made the statement outside the Dewan.
Chong Zhemin (PH-Kampar) and Khoo Poay Tiong called for severe action to be taken since it was not the first time for Awang or the opposition bloc to make baseless allegations.
Rayer had filed the motion to refer Awang to the Rights and Privileges Committee yesterday.
