High Court judge takes Siti Mastura to task for disseminating unfounded info despite holding a PhD
Georgetown High Court judge Quay Chew Soon took Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad to task for disseminating unfounded information despite holding a PhD and being aware of good practice guidelines in research methodology.
“Despite holding a PhD and having cognizance of good practice guidelines in research methodology she chose to disseminate unfounded information based solely on a campaign book,” he said in his written judgment.
“I agree with the plaintiffs that the campaign book is unverified and is a phantom publication.
“The publication of the campaign book was in question due to the absence of critical details,” he said in reference to the lack of publication year, author, publisher ISBN and ISSB numbers.
“Therefore the campaign book lacks veracity and cannot be considered credible. Yet she blindly relied on the campaign book.”
Earlier today Siti Mastura lost her defamation case.
The judge ruled that Siti Mastura pay the plaintiffs – RM250,000 to DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng, RM200,000 to vice president Teresa Kok and RM300,000 to party veteran Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang.
In addition to that, she was also instructed to pay RM75,000 in costs to the plaintiffs.
A delay in settling the defamation would result in an additional interest of 5 percent.
