Anwar would look into banning rationalism forum

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would look into banning the International Youth Rationalism Forum 2024, said Penang Hindu Endowment Board chairman RSN Rayer.

“I met and requested for the ban on the International Youth Rationalism Forum 2024 from our prime minister. He said that he would look into the matter and decide soon,” Rayer who is also Jelutong MP said in Tamil.

Rayer confirmed this via a video at the book launch of Kee Chuan Thye’s Lim Kit Siang: Malaysian First Volume 1 and 2, and a Chinese version of Volume 2.

Anwar was there to launch the books.

The forum scheduled to be held tomorrow at the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall is under the spotlight as it promotes Periyarism which supports atheism and notions that are Hindu – phobic.

Rayer had previously called for the ban and urged the Home Ministry into preventing the forum from taking place since the philosophy espoused in Periyarism is against the first tenet of Malaysia’s Rukunegara – Belief in God.

Earlier today, in Penang, he had called for an intervention from Anwar.
