‘Why no action on the offensive Facebook post, MCMC, PDRM?’
Jelutong MP RSN Rayer questioned the lack of action on the part of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over an offensive Facebook post by Indian Muslim convert preacher Zamri Vinoth Kalimuthu.
“I have checked on Facebook and I am also told that this very provocative and offensive posting of Zamri Vinoth is still on his page and can be viewed by the public.
“Why haven’t the authorities, the Royal Malaysian Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission blocked or removed this posting until now ?
“I again urge the authorities to act immediately to prevent the situation from escalating into violence which can threaten national security and peace,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook.
Rayer who is also Penang Hindu Endowment Board chairman had already lodged a police report on this matter.
The offensive posting by Zamri implies that those carrying kavadi are either intoxicated or possessed.
The controversial preacher has been in the news in the past for making offensive statements against the Hindus.
In a related development, a debate between Zamri and Tapah MP Datuk Seri M Saravanan to take place on March 23 regarding this matter.
