Ramasamy needs to retire and retire gracefully

The protem chairman of Urimai P Ramasamy needs to retire and retire gracefully instead floating race rhetoric, said a DAP assemblywoman.

“He is floating on the same race rhetoric cloud, where he believes it is sufficient to carry him afloat.

“My message to him is to retire and retire gracefully!!

“DAP is not a party based on race, we will continue to represent all and we mean business!

“I will carry the voices of all, including Indians, I represent a state constituency with the highest percentage of Indians , and I am an Indian woman in politics from DAP Perak, how can my appointment be a window dressing!

She said this in response to Ramasamy who claimed that the DAP co-opted three Indian members into the party’s central executive committee as “window dressing for DAP to reveal its multiracial character”.

“Appointing Indian leaders without any support base among the Indian grassroots might not ingratiate the Chinese-dominated party to the rank-and-file Indians,” Ramasamy said in a statement in reference to federal lawmaker VSivakumar and Thulsi.

The DAP had co-opted ten leaders into its central executive committee three days ago.

Among the ten, there were three Indian representatives:-
Batu Gajah MP V Sivakumar who is also Perak DAP vice chairman,
Buntong assemblywoman Thulsi Manogaran who is also Perak DAP’s publicity assistant secretary and
Banting state assemblyman Papparaidu Veraman who is also Selangor DAP’s assistant organising secretary.

For the record, Ramasamy is a former DAP leader who was Penang Deputy Chief Minister II.

He quit the party and formed Urimai after he was not fielded during the Penang state election in 2023.
