Search for teen girl ends in heartbreak, Nur Izzati found dead after 4 days

What began as a hopeful search for a missing young hiker, has ended in sorrow, as the life of Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul was found to have come to a tragic close.

The search for the teenage girl, who was reported missing while hiking at Bukit Changkat Asa since last Saturday, concluded this afternoon when search and rescue teams discovered her body.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the body of Nur Izzati, 19, was found off the hiking trail by the search and rescue (SAR) team at about 11.59am.

“The victim’s body was found about 500m from the last known location where she was seen and 1km from the incident control post.

“It took the SAR team about 20 minutes to bring the body to the control post using a stretcher,” he told Bernama when met at the control post.

The body was handed over to the police before being taken to the Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital, he added.

Earlier, the SAR operation, which entered its fourth day Tuesday, resumed at 8am involving various security agencies after being suspended at 6.30pm Monday (May 25).

Nur Izzati Humaira was believed to have lost her way at about 10.50am on Saturday (May 23) while descending the hill with her family after deciding to walk ahead alone as she felt hot and tired.
