Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin submitted documents including 115 statutory declarations of MPs who allegedly backed him to the police who questioned over his speech that he made in Felda Perasu on Aug 15 during the Nenggiri by-election.’

Muhyiddin said in a press statement that 114 declarations had been submitted to Istana Negara on Nov 21, 2022, before a 2pm deadline set by the palace, and an additional declaration was submitted the following day.

Besides the statutory declarations, Muhyiddin submitted to the police a letter from the then king’s private secretary, Nazim Alim, confirming the receipt of the declarations on Nov 21, 2022.

He also handed over two letters from the then Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Tan Sri Azhar Harun, dated Nov 20, 2022, conveying the king’s instructions for MPs with majority support to submit the relevant statutory declarations from other MPs.

“I have provided all the necessary documents and explanations to assist in this investigation. I trust that the police will conduct their probe justly, in accordance with the law,” he said.

The police probe comes in the wake of royal rebuke from Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah and 30 police reports lodged against him for allegedly questioning the wisdom of the 16th Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah.

The opposition coalition have distanced itself from him and only his party is backing him.
