PN distances, Bersatu backs Muhyiddin

While the opposition coalition, Perikatan Nasional distanced itself from its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, his party-Bersatu – has thrown its full support for its embattled leader.

“Bersatu is placing its complete trust in Muhyiddin as the president of Bersatu and chairman of PN to respect the law and record his statement,” said Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin in a statement late yesterday.

This contradicts Hamzah’s statement on Aug 19 where he who is also parliament opposition leader distanced the coalition from Muhyiddin.

“PN will not defend any party leaders who is facing legal action for questioning and insulting the Agong if he is found guilty.

“This party also strongly opposes the act of questioning the Agong’s powers and insulting His Majesty. If any leader did so, the action is a personal action,” he said.

Similar PN’s Pahang chapter too kept itself at length from Muhyiddin.

During the Nenggiri by-election in Felda Perasu on Aug 15, Muhyiddin had questioned the wisdom of the 16th Agong who is also the present Pahang Sultan in not appointing him as the Prime Minister.

Muhyiddin is due to record his statement today with the presence of his lawyer.

Muhyiddin’s action have resulted in the Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah calling for police action against the former.
